Hello, I'm new around here.

I'm a Christian tattooist who is working on a tattoo design for a client, and the client wants the design to include the Hebrew characters translating to "Jesus Is Lord"

Can anobody there help me out?

Thanks in advance!

Are you looking for the Hebrew letter equivalent of Jesus is lord (Yaushuah HaAdonai), or the English letters which phonetically depicts the Hebrew pronunciation of the phrase (as or similar to what I typed)?

I am not fluent in Hebrew, but know just enough to get myself into trouble, and may be able to help.

To clarify - I need the graphic Hebrew letters that would spell "Yaushuah HaAdonai" in the most accurate way, not the English equivalent.

I have scriptural translations I use for reference when I need direct quotes from the Bible, but this one isn't as straightforward.

I wonder if this client is aware that orthodox Jews believe that the Torah forbids tattoos, and would be turned off by the tattoo.
urania235, Shalom.

You can go to E-Sword www.esword.net and eigther download the whole Bible study, plus an add-on called 'AHLB,' which will provide you with the characters you seek, from Palio-Hebrew, to Modern, including script, I believe.

ThomasDGW is right, however, as 'marking of the body' is frowned upon.  Of course that would have a negative effect on your income.

Hope the e-sword 'free' downloads will help. Great study program also.

I don't think that "Orthodox Judaism" and "Yaushuah HaAdonai" have too much in common.

Of course you can show this person the verse in the Hebrew Bible that forbids tattoos, but, depending on their belief or interpretation, they may believe it doesn't apply to them.

Actually, if they are not Jewish, it doesn't.

Ironic, isn't it? The tattoo is a dove perched inside a Star of David. I was suggesting maybe - Aramaic / Latin. Anyway, I assume this client does not plan on being buried in a Jewish cemetary.

Lettering is done right to left

Yeshua is Lord

Yod-Shin-Vav-Ayin
He-Vav-Alef
Alef-Dalet-Vav-Nun

Yeshua    éùåò

he (is)   äåà

Lord   àãåï

                      éùåò   äåà     àãåï

I hope the program doesn't reverse the Hebrew, but just in case, I spelled out the letters.

Thanks; I must not have the appropriate Hebrew font on my computer, but I can figure it out;

To make sure I have this right (since the Hebrew is right-to-left)

Nun-Vav-Dalet-Alef   Alef-Vav-He   Ayin-Vav-Shin-Yod

I'm looking up calligraphic versions of these characters for the tattoo.

To decode, right mouse click over the garble.

A Box column with various options will pop up.

Then mouse your arrow over the word "encoding" in that first column.

On Windows XP, for example, this mousing over the word "encoding"  will  then open up another column with a couple choices or an arrow.

(If the Hebrew language option opens up, left click it then...otherwise).

Mouse over the arrow displayed in the second column, which opens up a third column.

Mouse over and down the third column, and bring the arrow on top of "Hebrew (Windows)"...for example.

Left click on the Hebrew (Windows) and you will see the post's garbled section become  "decoded" and in Hebrew.

So yes...you have it in correct order.

I believe this info will also help other readers see other posts using Hebrew and other  language quotes, that have passed through moderation, open up also.

Peace.
