You want to know why I believe in Jesus.  I'll tell you!  The Church has had major political influence in the 20th century.  We have had a global influence on art, architecture, music and literature over the centuries.  The Christians started the universities and have contributed many more good things throughout history.  And we have lasted this long in spite of many calamities and persecutions.  How could an organization like this get started and then explode into a global religion if Jesus did not rise form the dead.

My aunt asks me why I'm Catholic and tells me, as she takes a bite of her cheeseburger or something, that I should be Jewish.  I just roll my eyes, "Whatever."  Why should I be Jewish?  Just what does Judaism have to offer me?  The fact of the matter is that there is no Judaism.  There hasn't been for close to 2000 years.  I know what modern Judaism is about:

"We have in our day no priest, prophet or leader; no holocaust, offering, oblation or incense; not place to offer first fruits to find favor with you.  But let our prayer be heard in your presence today as though it were holocausts of rams or bullocks, or thousands of fat lambs.  So let our sacrifice be in your presence today as we follow you unreservedly.  For those who put their trust in you cannot be put to shame.  We fear you and we pray to you."

Give me a break.  That lasted 70 years.  It has been 2000 years and still no temple.  No temple, no sacrifice.  No sacrifice, no covenant.  No covenant, no Judaism, period.  Why would I want to be a part of something like that?  A compromise.  A stead of the real thing.  Modern Judaism isn't real.  It's simply Judaism in suspended animation.  And what would be so great about it anyway.  At least with Christianity, it can't be destroyed.  All they had to do to end Judaism was destroy the temple.  Want to end Islam?  Get in a jet and bomb Mecca.  No Jihad, no Islam.  Christianity is indestructible.  As long as there are priests, there will always be Christianity.  And we will be in a covenant that can be kept.  Some think that there will one day be such a Christian persecution that they will kill all the priests and once the last priest is killed, Christ will return.  I don't know.  All I know is that, even though my life can be threatened, my faith cannot.  I have all I need and more in the Church of Jesus Christ.  Yes he could have been killed, and he was.  But even though he was killed, he is still alive today.  That's what I'm talking about.  Not even death will destroy my Lord Jesus nor will it destroy me.

An invincible priest.  An invincible king.  An invincible covenant.  An invincible Word.  A true consummation with God and eternal life with Him forever.  That is why I believe in Jesus.  And if that is un-Jewish, then just what makes you so Jewish?

Thank you.

Dude, true Christianity comes from Messianic Judaism, meaning putting Judaism and Christianity in a Messianic context. Take a chill, man. Are Jews perfect? Only Jesus is. Are Gentiles perfect? Well, I'll say this: If I was, I wouldn't need a God. But here's the thing: Jesus came down to earth 2,010 years ago (4 B.C./3756) for both Jews and Gentiles. Why is this Jew-Gentile, black-white, American-French battle going on? Break the culture barriers and read the Bible.

Would you mind explaining why in the world your aunt thinks you
should be Jewish?   Smile
My family wants me to be Jewish because we are Jewish and Jews are supposed to practice Judaism. Most Jews suppose this and they are not Christian because they feel that it is un-Jewish. I was just venting so just take it with a grain of salt.

Venting is a good thing, we all do it one time or anotherSmile
Just so I understand, you were born Jewish (Jewish mother)
and converted to Catholicism?
Unfortunately the vast majority of Jews are not practicing
Judaism, never see the spiritual side of Judaism, and give it
up since they "don't know that they don't know" about
Judaism....

feel free to vent anytime...Smile

Your story reminds me of my husbands aunt, who was decrying
the fact that so many Jews are marrying out and having
absolutely no interest in being Jewish.
All while she was sitting there, eating her shrimp salad.....Sad
Lol. That's very funny.

My mother is Jewish and my father was protestant. I joined Catholicism when I was 23. I've always wanted to go to a church that was in touch with the Jewish roots of Christianity and that is why I got involved in "Messianic Judaism" when I was younger but there seemed to be gaps that Catholicism fills. I think Catholicism is a completion of Judaism and is the most "Jewish" of all the sects.

* Why is it that some Jews do not believe in heaven or hell, but practice Judaism?

* Why do some Jews who practice Judaism, believe Jesus Christ is there prophet but, there waiting for the first coming of Christ which will be the second coming of Christ?

* Why is Judaism practising Old Testament Law and NOT using New Testament Truth, revealing the curse that has been placed on the earth due to the perversion of The Word of God, and the disbelief of honoring or praising Jesus Christ who is the name whom those who call themselves Jews should pray to?

* Why is it when someone types the word "G-d", its improper to say the word outloud in the presence of another whom considers this a vain, disrespectful use of the name BUT, to read the word "G-d" and within your own thoughts as when you are reading the word pronounce it quitely within your conscience?

* Why is Judaism called Judasim "If" what is to be believed as a MESSIANICOld Testament teaching, does not teach that Jesus Christ is the Messiah?

* Why do those who strongly follow Torah have NOT come to the conclusion that there ways since the time of Moses teachings, the slaughter of MILLIONS of Jews and there belief that there is a spiritual war that is occuring, have not TRIED praying to JESUS CHRIST as there King whom has fought the war for them ......and WON?

* Why is Judasim a religion, and not a Faith?

The gospel of Jesus Christ is the New Testament. I know that the Gospel must be spread around the World.

Those whom have recieved the Gospel believe in Jesus Christ!
To recieve the truth regarding your life pray to Jesus Christ who is the Holy Spirit, you will recieve the answer to your prayers!

True Chrisianity is Believing in your Faith ( NOT RELIGION) by The Holy Spirits will, not the will of MAN!

Look at Deut 30:1-10 and read it carefully, look at some commentaries if you'd like, and then tell us all what this means to Jews in the future.

Deut 30:2 and 30:8 seem to teach that in the future, Jews will all have to follow ALL the commandments given to us THAT DAY at Sinai 3500 years ago to bring about our redemption and the Messianic age (like Isa 59:20-21 too). But you probably believe the Torah laws were voided and do not need to be followed. Ezekiel 37:24 seems to show that Torah will then be followed even in the future Messianic age (see also Isa 2:3 and Mal. 3:22 or 4:4). Ezekiel 45:17-22 shows the Messiah offering sin-sacrifices for himself and all Israel, and in addition he has children (Ezek 46:16-18 ) and this is the VERY SAME EXACT Prince from Ezek 34:23-24 and 37:24-25, ie, the Messiah.

You can choose to believe whatever you want about Jews and our bible, but realize the bible you claim to hold so dear doesn't line up with your personal beliefs.

Sorry, I don't understand your point here....

* Why
do some Jews who practice Judaism, believe Jesus Christ is there prophet but, there waiting for the first coming of Christ which will be the second coming of Christ?

Jews do not believe Jsus is a prophet..

* Why
is Judaism called Judasim "If" what is to be  believed as a MESSIANICOld Testament teaching, does not teach that Jesus Christ is the Messiah?

Sorry, I don't get your point again...

* Why is Judasim a religion, and not a Faith?

[i]Judaism is more than a religion or faith...it is
a covenental relationship to HaShem.
