Full Version: Nonscriptual Ways, "Historial" ways of looking at Yashua

There is a tendency to look at scripture. We look at Isaiah 53 and one person interprets it one way and another interprets it another way. We seem to get no where. It is like this with almost all exegesis. one side says they are wrong, and the other side says no no the others are wrong. So which is true? I decided to write down a list of "facts" that I am sure most people, both Jews and Yashua followers would agree on (but feel free to question the accuracy of these alleged "facts") and then I adduce them to prove a point. You can similarly draw your own conclusions or explain them away.

(1) Our temple, (God's holy temple) was destroyed, and our fathers were brutally slaughtered 200 years ago. God gave them no warning and no opportunity to repent and turn away as he did in OT times? I wonder why?

(2) No prophet has appeared in Israel for the last 2000 years. I wonder why?

(3) All atoning sacrifices were rejected EVERY SINGLE YEAR after a certain individual “died”, till the temple was itself destroyed. I wonder why?

(4) Look around you: nigh the whole world professes to follow the law of Moses, the law of God, as taught by a certain individual. Wondrous, isn’t it?

(5) A group of madmen/liars went to their deaths proclaiming a fictional account 2000 years ago just for the hell of it. I wonder why?

You don’t even need to look at scriptures. If you have eyes, all the answers point to Yashua.

[notes: (1) Yashua himself predicted the temple's destruction. (2) yashua said Israel's hosue will be desolate until....(3) Yashua WAS the atoning sacrifice. no more is needed. (4) Everyone on the planet now has heard of Yashua and his teachings and a lot of people PROFESS to follow the God of Israel on that basis, (5) the disciples were slaughtered for their beliefs, and it seems illogical that someone would purposely die for something he knew to be a lie.]

I really liked your inspiring commments. Thank you. It reminds me of a religion teacher I met at a local University who told me that she often challenges her students when they use the Holy Bible to prove a point. She says that she doesnt what the reason for their answers to be just because the Bible said so....but wants to know why they beleive it to be true. I couldnt understand why she did so and thought that this was poor direction and then I asked her why that was. She said because she wanted them to find other sourses and resources to back up their personal beliefs, other than the Bible said so ideas, and that it would help them. I did not agree with her initially but I can say with my whole heart that because of her I began to ask myself why I believe the way I do and what is my proof besides the Bible. Granted I dont think we need more proof than the Bible but I began to read and it actually cemented my faith even more because I know the Bible is true but using it as a reference often turns others off and you cant reach them because of it. But I have found that if you have legitimate peripheral sources and resources to back up your Biblical faith it does wonders for your point but also fortifies your own stand. What I learned is Gds word is true but we need to use what He has provided around us to really experience His truth ie Gd says that a man who cheats is also violent. When  you look for evidence of that in society it proves Gds precept and that cements your faith. When I began to do that Gds word really came alive for me. Now I tell people that I believe what the Bible says and then I use non-Biblical secular news and proven facts to prove Gds word is true. Dont you just love it! Thank you for your further agreement that we need to educate ourselves in not just Gds Holy Word but in the world around us and use that to our advantage when presenting the validity and authenticity of scripture. PTL!
yes good points of veiw, slaves2sin and HOPE7.  i think another thing to consider ; Isaiah  said that the messiah would become a light to the gentiles . and for the last 2 thousand years or so this has come to pass in Jesus . so does the prophets say there will be another who will also rise up as a light to the gentiles ? another Messiah  whom thousands of gentile saints will allow themselves to be fed to lions for ? another messiah  for whom thousands will die at the rack and be burnt at the stake for ? where in the scriptures do 2 messiahs become a light for the gentiles . Will we  forget the dreams ,visions and miracles given to us and throw our light away to pick up another ?
