i suppose my last attempt to post did not go through ....well anyway my question for you all(my jewish brothers and sisters) is..Is there such a thing as a messianic rabbi? And if so how does one go about becoming one?
Thank you for your answers
Nathanael (Ijust recently found out that I am a jew through my mother! For some reason she never told me and when I was doing research into my family history I found out the name of my great grandmother Ester Zachariahis. Nathaniel,
You can't become a "rabbi". Read Matthew 23:8-10. I've even called Catholic "Fathers" pastors. So, you could become a pastor.
Hi Nathanael,
My suggestion to you is to explore this religious avenue as much as you can, before proclaiming yourself 'Jewish'.
1) Find out why it was not mentioned to you by your mother etc.
2) Find out if a messianic synagogue is right for you (make an appointment with a messianic rabbi ie pastor).
3) Make an appointment with a reform Rabbi.
I have had that big Question Mark in my head too, about Judaism, due to being raised with a number of jews and having a jewish step-parent/relatives/friends. I even married a 100% jewish husband (1/2 german jewish/half russian jewish). There is more to the surface in all of this and its important to explore and evaulate all this for yourself. I've converted but I am walking away from it (leaving the husband, etc.).
Good luck with your spiritual journey.
Zeek.
