I over heard a young woman say. Communion, it's just eating some bread and drinking wine. And I was like just bread and wine. Oh how I cringe at that statement. I wanted to scream and shout out. Jesus didn't die just to have you eat bread and wine. The bread represents his body be battered abused spat upon and bruised for our iniquities beaten for sins. Paying a debt on that cross that he did not deserve.

He sufforcated and ached on the cross, naked ashamed heart broken, "How I wanted to gather you like chicks to a hen," "But you wouldn't let me." Both Jew and Gentile. And the wine, was his precious blood. The blood of the Son and God in one. Blood spilled out for my sins as attoning sacrifice to blot out every one present past and future. The life is in the blood. He poured out for me. I would have been there beating him down and spitting on him. If he had not chosen me and to save me an unworthy person, a sinner. He gave me grace.

The free gift to be a child of God. I was a child of the devil and even enjoying the pleasure of my sin and self righteousness forsaking him hating the name of Precious Jesus, "Y'shua" Christ born of a virgin sent to die on a cross, where I should have been hanging. And resurrection shouting I have defeated death, Satan all his angels and Hell, and if you should repent (turn from your sins and put your trust in me for salvation alone).

You can't earn it with one cent of money or any good deeds, for they are filthy rags, compared to the precious blood and body broken by Jesus Christ! So the communion is not just bread and wine. It is our gift from God to part take in and enjoy with holiness from God and remind us of what he did each time we take it!
The early Church Fathers generally agreed that some spiritual change occurs to the sacraments when it is dedicated, much like how the bread of the priests is made holy in the Holy Place, and consecrated to the priests only.

Paul speaks of a wrong partaking of consecrated communion as  bringing damnation, and physical sickness and death.

Unless this woman reads and understands I Corinthians 11:20-31, she could get cancer or suffer in some other way needlessly.  Every priest, pastor, or minister is obligated to give this admonition.  It is his responsibility to do so.

If you know the young woman, you might ask that she simply be aware of I Cor. 11:28-30 before she takes Communion again, and what the intent of the word "communion" is.  Just a thought.

Shalom.
Your passion is so much more than moving and beautiful.

The symbolism of our Lord's sacrifice began so very long ago in Egypt and is still remembered every year by many who don't even recognize it's point; celebrating Passover without seeing that Jesus is the firstborn sentenced to death while we live safely under His blood. . .etc. There are so many more people that don't get it than people that do. As you have such a wonderful understanding of our Lord's grace and mercy, I hope you will show it also to this woman you are speaking of. If she had a clue, she would never have said such things, so, remember when you didn't get it either ( that's a place we've all been ). Grace is given that we may pass it on.
What a Wonderful symbol of remeberance. Hardly just bread and wine. Amen... This do in Rememberance of me...

What you are refering to though Brianroy, is what the Roman Catholics call transubstantiation. Where they say ther priest can actually call the Savior out of Heaven and transform the wafer into the body of Christ. They believe also that the wine can be literally be transformed into the Bold of the Lord also.

Being new on the board I haven't quite yet learned the rules so I won't post an opinion on that. But just to clarify.
