If Jesus Christ wasn't Messiah, then how come these words written through the prophet sound very much like Jesus in the New Testament?
Isaiah 43:10-20 (New King James Version)
10 “ You are My witnesses,” says the LORD,
“ And My servant whom I have chosen,
That you may know and believe Me,
And understand that I am He.
Before Me there was no God formed,
Nor shall there be after Me.
11 I, even I, am the LORD,
And besides Me there is no savior.
12 I have declared and saved,
I have proclaimed,
And there was no foreign god among you;
Therefore you are My witnesses,”
Says the LORD, “that I am God.
13 Indeed before the day was, I am He;
And there is no one who can deliver out of My hand;
I work, and who will reverse it?”
14 Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer,
The Holy One of Israel:
“ For your sake I will send to Babylon,
And bring them all down as fugitives—
The Chaldeans, who rejoice in their ships.
15 I am the LORD, your Holy One,
The Creator of Israel, your King.”
16 Thus says the LORD, who makes a way in the sea
And a path through the mighty waters,
17 Who brings forth the chariot and horse,
The army and the power
(They shall lie down together, they shall not rise;
They are extinguished, they are quenched like a wick):
18 “ Do not remember the former things,
Nor consider the things of old.
19 Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.
20 The beast of the field will honor Me,
The jackals and the ostriches,
Because I give waters in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert,
To give drink to My people, My chosen.
Isaiah 43:10-20 (New King James Version)
14 Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer,
The Holy One of Israel:
who is the holy one of israel?? does this say that god is the redeemer? then who is messiah? is messiah god? is the holy one and god the same being in one? was isaias a catholic?
Isaiah 43:10-20 (New King James Version)
14 Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer,
The Holy One of Israel:

David, read the New Testament. Isaiah was Jewish, and so was Jesus. "Christians" was a term for Messianics coined by Syrians, and the Roman Catholic church came much later. Messiah is God, the Holy One.
What about this prophecy?
"For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. " Isaiah 9:6
This one actually does point out the fact that Messiah IS God.
Also, and not all of these are prophetic in and of themselves:
"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." Psalm 46:10
"In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his place of rest will be glorious."
Isaiah 11:10
"'Here is my servant, whom I uphold,
my chosen one in whom I delight;
I will put my Spirit on him
and he will bring justice to the nations.
He will not shout or cry out,
or raise his voice in the streets.
3 A bruised reed he will not break,
and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out.
In faithfulness he will bring forth justice;
Ack! I didn't finish and I accidentally posted. That last verse was Isaiah 42:3 and there are many more that I will not go into that make the point that I am about to make.
Almighty God revealed Himself at a certain point in history to the small tribe known as the Hebrew people. This was at a time (I believe, I'm no scholar though) where each tribe of humanity had their own god or gods to follow.
Throughout the Hebrew scriptures, as has been pointed out by the forementioned verses, God told the Hebrew people that one day all the other "tribes of people" (aka..."nations") would know that HE is the True God who created the universe and that this would be done through Messiah.
Now take a look at history and today. I know that other religions still exist, etc., but YHWH has truly revealed Himself to all peoples and continues to do so through Messiah. And what's more (please forgive me if I'm stretching it here), the 3 main religions of the world stand upon the fact that the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is the CREATOR GOD (of course, I am NOT saying that all 3 have come to accept Him for who He really is as revealed through Christ...only that He's recognized as God). Plus, His people, after undergoing more torment than any other civilization known to man, remain to this day as the "children of Israel". I am a VERY skeptical Gentile who has recently come to a crossroads in her faith where I sometimes shamefully doubt God altogether..but He has orchestrated history in a way so that I CANNOT ignore these facts and thus can stand firm in knowing that He is God and that Christ is the TRUTH. He was the banner that called to the nations, demanding that the apostles preach the news of salvation to the ends of the earth. Nations have risen and fallen in His name. Captives have been set free by His Spirit. All this because "...He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors." Isaiah 53:12b
The Holy One of Israel!
Isaiah 30:8-17
8 Now go, write it on a tablet before them And inscribe it on a scroll, That it may serve in the time to come As a witness forever. 9 For this is a rebellious people, false sons, Sons who refuse to listen To the instruction of the LORD; 10 Who say to the seers, "You must not see {visions";} And to the prophets, "You must not prophesy to us what is right, Speak to us pleasant words, Prophesy illusions. 11 "Get out of the way, turn aside from the path, Let us hear no more about the Holy One of Israel." 12 Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel, " Since you have rejected this word And have put your trust in oppression and guile, and have relied on them, 13 Therefore this iniquity will be to you Like a breach about to fall, A bulge in a high wall, Whose collapse comes suddenly in an instant, 14 Whose collapse is like the smashing of a potter's jar, So ruthlessly shattered That a sherd will not be found among its pieces To take fire from a hearth Or to scoop water from a cistern." 15 For thus the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, has said, "In repentance and rest you will be saved, In quietness and trust is your strength." But you were not willing, 16 And you said, "No, for we will flee on horses," Therefore you shall flee! "And we will ride on swift {horses,}" Therefore those who pursue you shall be swift. 17 One thousand {will flee} at the threat of one {man;} You will flee at the threat of five, Until you are left as a flag on a mountain top And as a signal on a hill.
Isa 31:1
Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help {And} rely on horses, And trust in chariots because they are many And in horsemen because they are very strong, But they do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek the LORD!
Isa 37:23
"Whom have you reproached and blasphemed? And against whom have you raised {your} voice And haughtily lifted up your eyes? Against the Holy One of Israel!
Isa 41:14
"Do not fear, you worm Jacob, you men of Israel; I will help you," declares the LORD, "and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.
Isa 43:3
"For I am the LORD your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I have given Egypt as your ransom, Cush and Seba
Isa 43:15
"I am the LORD, your Holy One, The Creator of Israel, your King."
Isa 54:5
"For your husband is your Maker, Whose name is the LORD of hosts; And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel, Who is called the God of all the earth.
Isa 49:7
Thus says the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel {and} its Holy One, To the despised One, To the One abhorred by the nation, To the Servant of rulers, " Kings will see and arise, Princes will also bow down, Because of the LORD who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel who has chosen You."
Isa 60:14
"The sons of those who afflicted you will come bowing to you, And all those who despised you will bow themselves at the soles of your feet; And they will call you the city of the LORD, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel. (Y'shua!)
Eze 39:7
"My holy name I will make known in the midst of My people Israel; and I will not let My holy name be profaned anymore. And the nations will know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.
Where is shmelke?
Shalom!
It is the same old story of people looking to various things like influence and power as their salvation rather than looking to the Lord for salvation.
Salvation comes from the Lord the Maker of Heaven and Earth!
Psalms 115:9-18
O Israel, trust in the LORD; He is their help and their shield. O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD; He is their help and their shield. You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD; He is their help and their shield. The LORD has been mindful of us; He will bless {us;} He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the house of Aaron. He will bless those who fear the LORD, The small together with the great. May the LORD give you increase, You and your children. May you be blessed of the LORD, Maker of heaven and earth. The heavens are the heavens of the LORD, But the earth He has given to the sons of men. The dead do not praise the LORD, Nor {do} any who go down into silence; But as for us, we will bless the LORD From this time forth and forever. Praise the LORD!
