And they were not given authority to ‘kill’ them, but to torment them for 5 months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a man. In those days men will seek death [seek Salvation] and will not find it; they will desire to die and death will flee from them.
…that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written:
“The Deliverer will come out of Zion,
And He will turn away ungodliness
from Jacob;
For this is my Covenant with them,
When I take away their sins.”

The shape of the locusts was like horses prepared for battle.
On their heads were crowns of something like gold, and their faces were like the faces of men.
They had hair like women’s hair, and their teeth were like lions’ teeth. And they had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was the sound of chariots with many horses running into battle.
They had tails like scorpions, and there were stings in their tails. Their power was to hurt men 5 months. And they had a King over them the Angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, but in Greek he has the name Apollyon.
One Woe is past. Behold, still 2 more Woes are coming after these things.

V.7 He has laid waste My vine, and ruined My “Fig Tree;”
He has stripped it bare and thrown it away;
Its branches are made white.
V.8 Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband
of her youth.
V.9 The grain offering and the drink offering have been cut off
from the house of the LORD;
The priests mourn who minister to the LORD.
V.10 The field is wasted,
The land mourns;
For the Grain is ruined.
The New Wine is dried up,
The Oil fails.
V.11 Be ashamed you farmers, wail you vinedressers, for the
Wheat and the Barley;
because the harvest of the field has perished.
V.12 The Vine has dried up, and the Fig Tree has withered; the
Pomegranate Tree, the Palm Tree also, and the Apple Tree –
All the Trees of the field are withered;
Surely joy has withered away from the sons of men.
Without the 'New Wine', Israel under the Old Covenant is in
decadent condition.

Of course the power of the scorpion is in his tail. These tails are the Prophets of old. I’ve heard the sting of a scorpion is excruciating. They will preach the Gospel of the Kingdom for 5 months. As the Truth is finally realized, it will be likened unto the sting of a scorpion. They will seek ‘death’ (seek salvation) but wont find it.
“You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?
Therefore I am sending you Prophets and Wise Men and Teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town. And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the Temple and the Alter.
I tell you the truth; all this will come upon this generation.”

Apollyon – Gr. Apollu’on; from Apollon, i.e. the Sun.
“Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and that day that is coming will
set them on fire, says the LORD Almighty.
“Not a root or a branch will be left to them.
But for you who revere my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall. Then you will trample down the wicked; they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day that I do these things,” says the LORD Almighty.
Remember the law of my servant Moses, the decrees and laws I gave him at Horeb for all Israel.
See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse.
