I have recently moved to a new neighborhood. My neighbor stopped by today and offered me two air filters. She also asked me what my last name is. When I told her, she asked if I was Jewish and if so did I have plans for Passover (she is Jewish and knew a Jew with a last name similar to mine). I told her that I was not Jewish. I have been thinking about it, and I think that I might like to go to Passover dinner with her. I have never been to a Passover dinner before. Is it appropriate for me to attend a Passover dinner? If so, how do I ask her if she will bring me with her?

I wanted to ask about something I think I read in the JFJ archieves.
I read that Passover is supposed to be the beginning of the calendar year, but that for some reason Rosh Hashanah is now observed as the new year...
Is this correct?
I looked up the passage Numbers 28:16 And in the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, is Jehovah's passover.
Why is Rosh Hashanah the new year instead

I celebrated my 1st Passover last night with a Jewish congregation at a local synagogue. I knew a little bit about it, but this morning, I read this:

4ever: Passover is the new year designated by God. Rosh hashana is regarded as a civil new year. It's scriptural name is Yom Terrua {day of trumpets} and its purpose was a preparatory holiday for Yom Kippur to be followed by Sukkot. Some Rabbis saw the Messianic relevance for Yom Terrua {Rosh Hashana} as it refered to the fall festivals or the "Latter rains". In the sequence that followed Israel was called by trumpets for repentance and tashlique because Yom Kippur and the great High Priest was to exit His Holy of Holies {heaven} "They will look upon me whom they have pierced"{Zech 12}. Soon to follow would be the Jewish understanding of Messiahs millenial reign and the setting up of Booths {Zech 14}. I believe this was Peters misunderstanding on the mount of transfiguration when he saw Moses and Elijah. Rabbinically this was the beginning of the Messianic kingdom.
In short the date change negates the spring holidays of Passover and Shavuot/ Pentecost and looks right to the Glory. Unfortunately as Peter shall learn the Passover Lamb must be slain and the "First fruits" offered before one could participate in Holy Spirits inscribing the law upon the heart {Just as Moses did upon tablets on the first shavuot}.
We love the "KING" part but ignore the "Suffering Survant part. Typical.

So typically men have rallied the troops over the victory while down playing the war...more or less.
I don't mean to say that in such a sarcastic tone. I know it is written((in the new testament, no less))

and should we discover that there is Messianic relevance in any thing; that should be applicable in above said statement, but I guess orthodoxy is just to complex for me to see why we should detour from what God has designated, in order to 'show the world Messianic relevance is ours'?

I just know from reading the bible, that people are not that far removed from idolatry in their thinking. Even Christians. (Especially? christians.).
I submit that the LORD lives. I also submit that no other religious leader of our day is portrayed in an imaginary way, nor in an artistic way that is supported by evidence to be contrary to the way they really appear.
We have depicted the LORD God ...which is against the first commandment in itself...but we have depicted the LORD God in a way that is not supported by scripture and is actually contrary to scripture...
Just wait on Him, keep His commandments, and He has promised He and the Father will make their home with you.
That is a promise from God.
