In Zechariah 13:8, it says "In the whole land," declares the LORD, "two-thirds will be struck down and perish; yet one-third will be left in it."
What does the whole land in hebrew mean? the whole earth or just Israel? I noticed that 1/3 of Jewish population in the world live in Israel and 1/3 of Jewish population live in North America. Just worried for the Jews....
Read: Matthew 24:15-21
The word "land" as used here in Zechariah 13:8, pertains to the existing borders of Israel. The majority of Israel's population already lives either parallel to the "West Bank" or north of its boundaries. These areas will be the primary invasion points. Israel should hopefully have its forces in the Judean South ready to do a thrust against Gaza and north into the West Bank just behind the invading forces. The fleeing will be done in a winter like season (hopefully warm) and may or may not be on a Sabbath Day. A Sabbath Day will determine that many Jews will not even attempt to flee, but simply be slaughtered where they are.
The verse pertains to a post-Aliyah annihilation launched by Anti-Christ's "go" signal televised and broadcast by other means at the Temple Mount. When he says, "I am G-D" in the Holy Place of the Temple, the confederacy seen in Ezekiel 38:1-6 will invade Israel. He quickly leaves at that point, and goes away. Some think someone shoots him in the head, and unlike JFK, the deadly wound with his brains blown out...is healed on live television, and other media. He would then quickly leave, while the war is conducted. Satellite or high altitude aircraft laser weapons perhaps assisting his escape (i.e., the "fire down from heaven").
The majority of the ground invasion will swing through from Lebannon and Syria up near Capernaum, at the northern part of the Sea of Galilee. Many tens of thousands of others will come down by parachutes to capture Jerusalem and the surrounding areas. So many, that the sun will be blotted out by the sheer number of them.
Obadiah 7-15 shows that some so-called Palestinians (of Arab descent) will cut off the fleeing of Israel at its alley of 10-12 miles between the Mediterranean Sea and the West Bank. There will be other "Palestinians" who will be sought for for aid by fleeing Jews, but these will turn the other way and ignore the plight of the Jews to their destruction, that they might be co-spoilers with the de facto invaders.
These will all be swallowed up by a tidal wave which will sweep in from the Mediterranean Sea, induced by an asteroid shot down there by nuclear weapons...but instead, the earth opens up behind the angelic assisted Jews (as when they first fled in Egypt on the first day) and swallows up the tidal wave before it washes as far as Jordan (cf. Revelation 12:13-16, et al.)
Brother Swaggart's Expositor's Study Bible comments on Zechariah 13:8 to the effect that the two-thirds destruction is of a whole to the Jewish population over the last 3 1/2 year period. I disagree. I say it is either in a single day, or certainly in no less than a 48 hour period.
There will be about 12-18 million Jews or less in Israel at the completion of Aliyah. How many go up in the Elijahn (seen) Rapture will dictate how many millions will die in the Great Tribulation hour's launch. We can only hope and pray that a like number as have "ascended up" to Israel, will also "ascend up" in the Elijahn Rapture. We would that ALL Israel be saved...but if there are only 3 million left, and 9 - 15 million having believed the Two Witnesses and the 144,000 into Yeshua...then so much the better. We need more Jews in Heaven with us, living unto G-D with their patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob...and extremely less of them to be lost to hell and damnation forever.
Further, the more Jews who believe into Yeshua, the greater the reward in Heaven...for as Jesus says, "As you did unto the least of these, My Brethren, you did also unto Me." Christ places a special emphasis for us to show Jews greater patience, I think, than most any other. I could be a little biased here, in their favor, though. Hope this helps. Shalom.
Pastor JT potter's of the potter's house has preached on political issues, why don't you blog with goy brian?
<(((((((< I'm getting tired of people ignoring Israel's boundaries and theocracy it is too taxing.
Zec 13:7 "Awake, sword, against my shepherd, And against the man who is close to me," says Yahweh of Hosts. Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered; And I will turn my hand against the little ones.
- My shepherd -- The true servants of God.
My fellow -- The Lord's special messenger in the Harvest of the Gospel age.
Smite the shepherd -- Y'shua's death.
Shall be scattered -- The apostles would all be offended, discouraged, stumbled.
Therefore, during the 40 days between his resurrection and ascension, Y'shua's chief concern was to regather them and re-establish their faith in him as the long-looked-for Messiah.
God permits this for their proving and development.
"All ye shall be offended because of me this night." (Matt. 26:31)
Turn mine hand -- Use my power to protect.
No scattering of the sheep, but the reverse--the "hand" or power of the great Yahweh would rest upon the little ones left over.
The little ones -- The weak ones.
Zec 13:8 It shall happen that in all the land," says Yahweh, Two parts in it will be cut off and die; But the third will be left in it.
In all the land -- Everywhere.
- Two parts -- The Little Flock and the Great Company.
Two companies, both justified, begotten of the spirit, and candidates for joint-heirship with Christ. (See also Lev. 16:7-10 & Lev. 23:17)
Possibly, the first class is the very elect; the second class, those who go into the Second Death; and the third, the Great Company and all mankind who go into the time of trouble.
Cut off and die -- Being consecrated unto death.
But the third -- The world of mankind.
These three parts are not equal parts.
Zec 13:9 I will bring the third part into the fire, And will refine them as silver is refined, And will test them like gold is tested. They will call on my name, and I will hear them. I will say, 'It is my people;' And they will say, 'Yahweh is my God.'"
Through the fire -- The time of trouble.
The world of mankind will pass from death conditions to life conditions during the Millennium.
Probably some of the living nations will pass over into the Kingdom without going into the tomb.
Refine -- The great time of trouble will have a refining influence on the world and on the Great Company.
All will be granted an opportunity for coming, through the divine processes of the Millennial age, back to the full perfection of human life lost by Father Adam's transgression.
Call on my name -- All who are returned to harmony with God will recognize him as such.
I will hear them -- God will recognize them as his people.

Well, whether for good or bad, you have
chutzpah. Don't even talk until you believe in the Eloh
im you claim to know.
Zehcariah 13:5 But he shall say, I [am] no prophet, I [am] an husbandman; for man taught me to keep cattle from my youth.
Amos 7:14 Then `Amos answered Amatzyah, "I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son; but I was a herdsman, and a farmer of sycamore trees;
in one the prophet is committed to being what the LORD has called him to accomplish. (context of amos chapter 7)
in the other the prophet has become shamed and rejects the call, for it is better to 'belong' than to perish in the LORD at the hands of his parents no less. (context of zechariah chapter 13)
I marvel at the necessity to study context! in the Word of God!
knowing the Elohim? Yes, knowing.
bye for now,
kimberly
Yet, they say the same thing...don't they? if you do not read the context, the meaning is the same
