I think David had eight wives, After reading and some counting
I came to the conclusion that David was under the torah which is never specific about marraige. Paul exhorts Timothy to have one wife. It is apparent Paul is teaching something that can't be fathomed unless you understand the context. Seeing Jesu had no formal marraige or attachment, Is Paul teaching against Jesus?

cor517,
You really need to go back and read the whole Bible. I am not personally attacking you; but calling you out as I would anyone else, and telling them the harsh truth about themselves.

  1. Genesis 2:24 makes it clear that one woman and one man are an ideal couple.
  2. God used Abraham's adultrey and Jacob's polygamy as an example of why one man and one woman work.
  3. Polygamy was discouraged, but regulated.
  4. David and Solomon were not perfect.
  5. How could Jesus of Nazareth marry if He was a Nazarene and to die on a cross?
  6. An Unblemished Lamb could not marry, and marriage is to control lusts and procreate.
  7. Paul said it was more beneficial to be single. See 1 Corinthians 7.

Goy of Y'shua,

You are trying to teach me and you can't even find your bible, personally
I think you are stuck on the airwaves. Can you not hear the spirit calling you?
In everything you do, your irresponsible assumption that paul said it was beneficail to who to be married?
I am not going to spend all my time arguing with you you need to go to ezekiel. He was the forerunner of the messiah, not Paul.
I am going to give you more references soon concerning your friendships in this area too. READ EZEKIEL a few more times. You kindle too many fires and worship under everygreen tree and forget that there are people that needed to be welcomed here instead of ignored. I get up out of my chair, and applaud you in response to the article up front.

Trying to comprehend
Goy, you might be better off gentile.

For those who can't control their lusts. See 1 Corinithians 7. By the way, I at least quote you.

Obviously you didn't read Goy's post..
she said:
'Paul said it was beneficial to be [i][b]single see 1 Cor 7
Primarily because if you are single you can devote your life to the ministry of God instead of worrying about a family.
You shuold be able to comprehend that and pardon my curiosity but what does Ezekliel have to do with marriage?
There was nothing irresponsible in her post...maybe you need to put your glasses on  and read before you insult someone she does know her scriptures...
Is it permissable in the Jewish faith today to have more than one wife?

I had someone who I think is always looking for the grass to be greener on the other side of the fence and he told me this.

He's just an online friend...but he has had some affairs and I keep telling him he needs to not do that...that he will only regret it in the end.

Marraige is a beautiful example of God's love. Adultery is not. Fornication is not.  Divorce is not. Gossip is not.

I am not married. My parents were married 42+ yrs. before my father passed away. I am happy. I honestly think I can be beneficial (able to exhort), help, offer scriptural advice, and teach by recounting my own personal experience, anyone God calls me to do so for.

That includes single or married.

No, Jews are allowed only one wife. While by Torah it is permissible
to have more than one, the rabbis banned polygamy.

If God condoned pluralistic marriage in the Torah, on what authority can a rabbi ban it? Can God change His mind about what He has instituted?
