I know of or know Messianic Jews who are also Roman Catholic. I also have a Roman Catholic family on both sides, but my mom moved to the Protestant church. I have to ask: Jew or Gentile, you think that Roman Catholicism and Messianic Judaism and Christianity are how close?
Hello GoyOFY' shua,
being Catholic myself, I bellieve that the complete fulfillment of Judiasm is in the Catholic Church. In fact I admit I am kinda shocked when converted Jews don't see the relationship.
Ever listen to Rosyln Moss on the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN)? She is a Jew who was 'born again' into protestantism, then finally became a catholic. Her story is very interesting, considering that she too like so many protestants think that the catholic church is paganism or at best just another christian faith.....
I started another thread asking if anyone does see any similarities in the Catholic Mass to the Jewish faith.
In God's peace and time,
Robin

I refer to Messianic Judaism as Judaism. The sad thing is, in my opinion, it does depend. This is because there's some Judaizer factions just as legalistic and tradition-based as Roman Catholicism (See Acts 15 and the first three chapters of Galatians); and some Reformed Roman Catholics and Messianic Jews who follow some
mitzvot and denominational traditions, but know that works come from faith.

" whatever you bind on earth is bound in heaven".
this scripture show you that the "rock" that jesus tells peter he is, is not the rock of himself or peters confession of faith because he says "YOU" bind and 'YOU' loose. and because he tells peter that he will be with him until the consumation of the world, this indicates that this promise will follow the office from generation to generation. it has to because peter died.
circumcision and baptism are the same ritual. i dont have to tell any rabbi what circumcision is all about they know it is the dedication of the child to god. catholics do this in baptism. they 'loosed' the circumcision ritual and replaced with baptism of john but the spirit is not changed! like the circumcision, the ritual occurs at infancy and this because a child could die before he reaches an age of consent and would not be saved. the protestants dont do this and they making a big mistake. they are hypocrites to teach against child baptism because they preach that one must be baptised by water and the spirit to be saved.
in modern judaism, a young man reaches the age of consent is bar mitzvahed. he confirms the relationship established for him by his parents and gives his free will consent to bind himself to the covenant. the catholics do the same thing. they call their ritual, CONFIRMATION. the young man or woman is 'confirmed' and binds themselves to the new covenant and the laws of the church of which there are six. protestants dont do this stuff.
they are farther from judaism than the church yet they call the church what, apostate? why? because it is easier to get baptized and sit and wait for messiah to come and wisk them away. they dont have any accountability for sin. that man is saved by grace alone is true only when the man is of righteous spirit. this is a pulpil when they say no man is righteous and just causes a lot of argument because it is also true that no man is righteous. "the spirit is willing (righteous), but the flesh is weak (unrighteous)."
of all the catholic churches there are in the whole world, somewhere someone is performing the ritual of melchizedek as jesus taught us, and this replaces/restores, the blood sacrifices which god detested. just as melchizedek was victorious in battle, so was christ victorious against satan and death.
all the rituals of the catholic church are all tied into judaism is some way or another. nothing is invented. it all from the jews.
we see in talmud that the rabbis say that 'shiloh' is the messiah. and so they overlook the fact that when the septer came into the hands of herod king over israel, that messiah had come into the world. he established the mountain and the temple and left it all to peter saying, " the gates of hell will not prevail against it"
Goy: I think mom knows best.
tj Why not compile a list for us and we'll look at?
example: Hierarchy, worship service, etc
I believe that Messianic Judaism is what Christianity should be. There are many churches that have already become Messianic. The older and larger churches are slower to make the changes that are needed whether mainline Protestant, Reformed, Lutheren, Orthodox or Catholic.
Generally speaking, the older and larger they are, the harder they fall in the good sense of the word in sincere humility.
What we need is for the truth to be known.
Shalom!

I like to make a correction here. You can not talk of anyone's faith, but Christ's faith. The scriptures are clear abut this.
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law,, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.Galatians 2:16
A man is not justified by his own faith or his own work, but by the faith of Christ.
How can you call faith yours,if it is a gift of God?
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:: Ephesians 2:8
THE FAITH WE HAVE IS A GIFT FROM GOD.No such thing as a Gentile or Jewish faith.

Well, I'd look at Acts 15. We're not required to follow all 613
mitzvot. We only have four requirements that branch from two- "love God...and love your neighbor as yourself."

Hope you don't mind, but I think David said it better than what I could of in regard to the fulfillment of the Jewish faith and the catholic faith.

I am hereby reduced to more anecdotal information,
My first "real" sermon that remained vivid in my mind was on or about 1988. This sermon was delivered in what they call a "storefront" church, or fellowship if you will. The only memory that remains for me from that sermon were the words, Moses, Aaron, and "There is no competition for
the child of G-d." There was rejoicing and good music also in that little service.
What or how does this fit in with the thread? I ask myself. I see Messianic Judaism as Messianic Judaism, I picture rejoicing in the Lord,
fine teaching and preaching with a fulfillment in Christ Jesus emphasized.
I watch the Catholic channel occasionally, have never participated in Mass or felt the need to change denominational membership. (although
I am not on any denominational roll). Catholic services to me, seem rigid
with lots of quotes from Saints and liturgy and memorization by the priests. Do not understand celibacy of priests or transubstantiation at all.
So much for my observations.
1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care on Him , for He careth for you.
*1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.
*1 Peter 2:24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
I think we are given the commission of Christ to make believers in Y'shua, not rosters. Are you washed in the blood of the lamb? Is your name written in the Book of Life? (B.I.B.L.E) Basic Instructions Before Life
