HEALING AND SICKNESS
Healing and sickness are two important points that God’s word deals with. It seems to me that there is a lot of misunderstanding on the issue. For this reason, I would like to address two views on the subject, and shed some light of understanding for you, the reader.
First View: “God has us in sickness for a purpose”
This is an excellent point. However, it should be understood in its context. I firmly believe that God has purposed Christians to be sick with the intention that they will receive their healing from their Lord God. This point can be backed up with scriptural reference. When we read John chapter 9, we see that there was a man born without sight. Jesus said that neither the blind man’s sin nor his parents were the cause, but that Lord would heal him and be glorified!
Are you sick? If so, then you are a candidate for a miracle!
Second View: “its God will for me to be sick, so I will just accept it!”
This is similar to the first view. However, we do not have to accept that God wants us always to be sick. As stated above, God’s purpose is for us to be well. Remember, the Lord uses sickness in us so that He can heal us
Third View: “ If someone believes it is God’s will to heal them, then taking medication is going against their faith in God”
First of all it is God’s will for us to be well. Faith in God and the use of prescription drugs from a Doctor don’t go against each other.
We must remember when Timothy wasn’t feeling well that Paul told him to take some wine for his stomach. The point I am making is that God uses physical things to bring healing. Herbs were created by God, and these have healing properties. God uses physical and spiritual means to make his children well.
When you want healing seek the Healer, who is Jesus. This is an important point that most people miss. The Lord Jesus healed the blind man, but later got the man to confess his faith in him. He said that He believed that Jesus was the son of man. Another good example was the healing of the ten lepers. Only of them came back and thanked the Lord. The Lord said: “Your faith has made you well”. Jesus was referring here to physical and spiritual (salvation) healing.
