Jesus
#11
Interesting points. Thank you all for your responses. I believe as Jesus did. There is but one God, an unknown G_d who gave us his name of IAM. One that is indivisible and can never be divisible by His own created beings. One whose attributes are truly His and no one else's. In Jesus' own words, 'Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One. Thank you all.

God is not unknown to those who have chosen to belong to Jesus --

"God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person..." (Hebrews 1:1-3)

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." (John 1:1, 14)

We aren't required to call Him "G-d," as if He is distant and unknowable, although that spelling is traditional among some. We have the right and the freedom to call Him our Father and speak to Him on the most intimate terms (like a child to a parent), because of what Jesus did for us on the cross.

"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God...you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, 'Abba, Father.' The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God; and if children, then heirs -- heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ..." (Romans 8:14-17)

Our inheritance is based on both the new birth (John 3:1-18), which makes us children of God, and the adoption through grace:

"But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, 'Abba, Father!'" Therefore, you are no longer a slave but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ." (Galatians 4:4-7)

It is true if you chose to believe in Jesus. In that case then God is known to you. Which is good for you. Everyone has a right to choose that which they wish to believe, but it doesn't make one right and the other wrong. We are but Man with a limited intelligence and unless the spirit is within us how can we know for certainty that which we read is all true. We don't know. We study, we search, and hopefully we find. The time frame given us to find the hidden-- that depends on God. I always say, just as man knows the day and the hour, so does man know God. God bless to all.
